3 Reasons why US Filmmakers should not overlook Film Festivals in other countries
Jan 31, 2025
- Some festivals in Europe, Asia and South America have $0 submission fees. And, even if they do charge submission fees, they will likely be significantly lower than US festivals.
- These festivals may pay for your travel and/or accommodations. Most festivals outside the US are funded by their government and part of their funding provides for filmmaker accommodations, which often covers hotel and meals.
- You will gain exposure to a diverse international audience, as well as potential distribution from a different region, beyond the US. You can tap into a whole new well of collaborators, fans, and investors, to take your project to the next level!
It might take a little more upfront research, as a good number of these festivals are on platforms other than FilmFreeway, and/or may have their own submission software through their individual websites, but doing your homework where this is concerned is well worth the potential benefits!
